What is a topic's description for?

The description tells the AI what belongs into this topic. It is the most important lever for entries being filed correctly.

An example: two topics "Documents" and "Receipts" sit close together. If the description of "Receipts" says "invoices and receipts with an amount", the AI knows where an invoice goes.

  • Topics from the tour come with a description.
  • For your own topics you write it yourself, right when you create them: a topic cannot be saved without a description. Later you change it in the topic via the name at the top, field Description. One sentence is enough.
  • In addition the AI derives an AI purpose from the entries in the topic and keeps it current. You see it in the topic; Regenerate purpose derives it afresh from the current entries.

Tip: If the AI often puts entries into a neighboring topic, sharpen the descriptions of both topics instead of moving the entries one by one.

After sharpening descriptions, the Recheck all items button in the topic helps: the AI checks every entry against the purpose once more. In the "4later" topic the button is called Refresh suggestions and recomputes the suggestions for all waiting entries.
