Put PDFs or photos into a folder in your iCloud Drive, and 4later turns them into entries automatically. Handy for scans from your Mac or files you would otherwise just file away.
Set it up
- Open Settings in 4later and tap Import → iCloud Drive.
- Turn on Import from iCloud Drive.
- Under Target Topic, choose where the entries should go. If you don't choose, they go to the "4later" topic.
How it works
- Your iCloud Drive now has a folder 4later with a subfolder Import. Put files there, in the Files app, in the Finder on your Mac or straight from your scanning software.
- 4later checks the folder as soon as you open the app, and while it is open, also right away when a file arrives. Nothing happens in the background.
- A file you just added waits up to a minute, so a scan that is still being written is not imported half finished.
- PDF, JPEG, PNG and HEIC files are imported.
- Every new entry is unread and gets an AI summary, as usual.
- How many files per month come in from iCloud Drive depends on your plan. The iCloud Drive page in Settings shows your allowance and how much of it is left this month. Once it is used up, further files stay in the folder and are imported next month.
- A notification lets you know before your monthly allowance runs out, and again once it is used up. Tapping it shows your options.
Delete File After Import
This switch starts out on: after the import the file leaves the folder and stays in "Recently Deleted" in the Files app for 30 days. If you turn it off, the file stays in the folder.
